Laura McGee and Stefanie Elrick perform at HOME Mcr

AWOL residents Laura McGee and Stefanie Elrick are performing in a special one night only pop-up exhibition curated by Instigate Arts at HOMEmcr. Having worked together for over a decade this duo are renowned for their abstract dance performances and immersive theatre experiences all over the world.

The upcoming exhibition centers around the theme of ‘Ambition’ and will also showcase new artwork by  Bartosz Beda, Kevin Burke, Michelle Hannah, Richard Hughes, Sara Minelli & Hyunjoo Kim, Emily Mulenga, Maria Orengo, Greg Thorpe, Angela Readman, Louise Woodcont.

Laura and Stefanie have devised a 2hr dance piece called compenSATE which “looks at the way we consciously and subconsciously compete with each through the way we look. Beautification rituals are often designed to make us stand out or attract the attention of others, but they more often than not remove us from our true beauty.”

Welcome to Carlos FerGo and Cristina Bravo

Please give a warm AWOL welcome to Carlos Fergo (Fine Art) and Cristina Bravo (Pattern Maker and Designer) who have now moved into Room 502a.

Carlos FerGo – Fine Art is a contemporary painter. Graduated in Art History by UCLM University, Spain. During his life, he has developed his drawing. With Oil painting, he began as self-taught in 2010. He has lived for several years in Madrid, but from 2012 he’s living in Manchester, UK, where he works with Pastel, Charcoal, Oil and Acrylic painting, although he’s working overall with Acrylics

Cristina Bravo – Pattern Maker & Designer – is a pattern maker specialized on female clothes. She studied pattern design and fashion in Madrid, Spain and she is currently attended  at Manchester College in Art department. She is living in Manchester since 2012 and she has already colaborated with local students of design at Salford University. She is always  looking for new patterns to create and people who feels inspired by her pattern maker classes.
