Providing flexible, affordable space for your studio, workshop or office is what we’re all about and with 77 units ranging from 85 sq ft to over 1,100 sq ft we’ve got room for all! Our philosophy is very simple; we’re here to help people of all abilities and talents to find their perfect space where they can practice their art to their heart’s content in a creative and stimulating environment.
Our studios are secure and warm and take advantage of the natural symmetry and light of Hope Mill. Each is self contained with vaulted ceilings, 2m high windows, central heating, smoke detectors and sprinklers. We encourage all residents to personalise their studios, making each one as individual as they are, and everyone is free to carry on their practices in peace and quiet, or as they see fit, and may engage in the AWOL community as little or as much as they desire. Each floor has its own toilets and communal area and there is 24 hour access, 7 days a week. Additionally, by the end of October AWOL Studios will have its own, free WiFi service available for both residents and their guests.
Our home, Hope Mill, is a beautiful Grade II* listed building built in 1824 as a cotton spinning and fustian weaving mill for Joseph Clarke & Sons. It’s ideally placed just a 10 minute walk from Manchester city centre and is well served by public transport especially being only 150 meters away from the new Holt Town Metrolink station on the Ashton line.
