We’re excited to announce the return of the AWOL Studios Open Evening, taking place on Friday 3rd October, 6–9pm at Hope Mill in Ancoats. For the 18th year, Open Studios is one of the highlights of our calendar – a chance for us to open the doors of our creative home and welcome visitors inside.
AWOL Studios is based across four floors of the Grade II* listed Hope Mill and is home to over 80 studios filled with artists, makers, and small businesses. During the evening, visitors are invited to step inside these spaces, meet the residents, and discover the incredible variety of creative practices happening under one roof. From fine art, sculpture, and textiles to printmaking, photography, film, and more – there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Alongside the Open Studios, the evening also features:
- ‘Trace’ – a group residents’ exhibition on the 2nd floor
- An independent exhibition curated by Claire Turner of Comme Ca Art on the 5th floor
To make the evening even more special, we’ll also be running a donation bar with proceeds going to Manchester and Cheshire Dogs’ Home, a cause close to our community’s heart.
AWOL Director David French says:
“Open Studios is always one of the highlights of our year. It’s a chance to open the doors of AWOL Studios and share the incredible creativity happening inside with the wider Manchester community.”
The event is free to attend, and no RSVP is needed – just come along, explore, and enjoy the atmosphere. Whether you’re looking to buy, commission, network, or simply soak up the buzz, we’d love to see you there.
