BBC TWO has commissioned a new series of ‘Show Me the Monet’.

We would like artists from AWOL to submit their art to us – whether you have publicly displayed any of your work before or not, whether you have ever sold any of your work before or not, we want to see it!

This could be your chance to get your art seen not just by some very prominent members of the art world but also by the nation… and it could be the first step on the road to recognition and success for you.

Our Hanging Committee (see Judges & Presenter) is searching for great art from both amateurs and professionals alike. Anyone can enter as long as you submit your own personal work of art. It could be a painting, a sculpture, a photograph, a drawing, a ceramic – as long as you have created it yourself, you can enter it (see terms and conditions).

The Hanging Committee needs great art to put into a new exhibition where members of the art establishment, together with members of the public, can view and buy the work that is selected. All the work at the exhibition will have your guide price attached but will be offered for sale by sealed offers – meaning that potential buyers will not know what anyone else has offered until the sale is over!

How to enter: take a photo of the piece of work you would like to enter (see terms and conditions of entry) and a photo of yourself and download them to your computer. Visit our APPLY NOW page (please note that this page will NOT accept entries until 09.00 on Monday 12th December 2011 and that we will only accept the first 3,000 applications.)

Submission opening date: 09.00 on the 12th December 2011

Submission closing date: 23.59 on 8th January 2012 (or when 3,000 applications have been received)

Transmission’s Creative Director, Grant Mitchell, explains how the intriguing design originated: “We simply used the number of the open evening, in this case ‘5’, and interpreted this in a creative way. So we begged, stole and borrowed items from fellow residents to reflect as many of the creative disciplines within AWOL Studios. Pencils, paint, tools, letters, fabric, and many other items were arranged to form a number five. We also filmed the process and used this to further promote the event. Other residents will be invited to contribute their skills and talents in the future, by interpreting the number of the corresponding open evenings in their own style. It’s going to be really exciting to see the idea develop and how other creatives interpret the brief.

Entries to the Waterside Open 2012 are invited from artists/makers working in any medium, except live art. This includes: painting, print, photography, digital media, sculpture, textiles, crafts, furniture design and installation.

How to enter

Download an entry Form or telephone Box Office on 0161 912 5616 to receive an entry form by post.

Deliver artwork, completed entry form and entry fee in person to the Waterside Arts Centre at one of the following submission times:

• Friday 20th January, 3pm – 7pm
• Saturday 21st January, 10am – 5pm and
• Sunday 22nd January, 1pm – 4pm.
