Forever influenced by nature and heritage we aim to create a unique bridal vision that is different in a subtle, quiet way for individuals that seek a timeless bridal look for their wedding day. We focus on flattering shapes and encourage a ‘less is more’ approach to bridal wear. Wilderness Bride designs are extremely versatile allowing each individual bride to add their own personal touch through additional pieces.

AWOL’s 14th Annual Open Studios w/ Manifest Arts & Comme Ca Art

Wednesday, June 12th, 2019

That’s right folks, it’s that time again, and for the 14th year in a row on the 13th July AWOL Studios welcomes any and all curious members of the public into Hope Mill, our beloved Grade II* listed landmark in Ancoats.

This is the one hallowed eve when we invite everyone to explore our four historical labyrinthine floors, home to 83 different creative collectives all busily keeping themselves out of mischief. From painters, videographers, graphic designers, perfume makers, sculptors, textile workers and tattooists (as well as a few renegades who refuse to be classified!) AWOL is proudly home to one of Manchester’s most diverse and enduring artistic communities.

As always, we’ll host an in-house residents’ exhibition, centering this year on the theme of #NewIcons (and the fact that Manchester is clearly the centre of the world!) curated by that dastardly duo Jude Wainwright and Sara Hindhaugh. This exhibition will showcase a range of mixed media pieces aiming to re-energise, or even reinvent, modern Manchester’s visual identity. Casting aside the tired old worker bee, the Man U footy shirt and the bad Gallagher Brothers haircut, we’ll see what fresh emblems of our fair Metropolis catch the public’s imagination.

Of course, our 5th floor neighbors Comme Ca Art will also host their own independent exhibition in their private gallery, boasting brand-new artwork and incredible panoramic perspectives of the surrounding area. If nothing else, whilst soaking up the ambiance of their gorgeous urban gallery, visitors will also have the chance to see a rare aerial view of Ancoats North, West, East and South as the area undergoes it’s most recent transformation and ceaseless evolution.

Drinks and light refreshments will be on offer, as well as a chance to mingle with residents and chat about their latest projects. It’s a great opportunity to peek behind-the-scenes and see how abstract ideas manifest into reality, to get inspired and discover new workshop or learning opportunities, meet like-minded people or simply have a nosy!

This year AWOL is also teaming up with #ManifestArtsFestival, which runs 12th to 21st July alongside the Manchester International Festival and has a whole programme of exciting events keeping your finger on the pulse of the North West’s vibrant arts scene.

For those not in the know, Manifest Arts Festival is an artist-curated biennial festival giving visitors an insight into the wide-ranging contemporary art being produced in the North West region. Throughout these two weeks they will create various ‘art trails’ and community led creative initiatives that are accessible and inclusive to all. Getting your fill of culture couldn’t have been easier and doesn’t have to cost you the earth.

What’s not to love? We’ll see you there!
