Sisterhood

Wednesday, July 11th, 2018

Here at Sisterhood we make effortless clothing full of sass for women who love to rule their own world. Our inspiration comes from empowerment and female magic.

ECO LOVE

We are proud to love Mother Earth. This means that we do our absolute best day to day to reduce our impact on the environment. Against throw away fashion, we aim to create individual pieces that will never go out of style and will stand the test of time.

Along side this, everything we use to run our brand from paper to packaging is made from 100% recycled materials and can all be recycled once finished with. We work closely with a small factory we have a very loyal relationship with to produce our designs; they help us to ensure that there is no wastage with our fabrics and that no nasty chemicals are used during the production process. Fair wages are paid to all of our workers and we make regular visits to make sure that their working conditions are safe. It’s truly important to us that the beautiful clothes we sell don’t have an ugly past.

David Draws

Wednesday, July 11th, 2018

Dave Draws is a freelance artist and illustrator who specialises in doodle maps of cities and large scale wall murals.

Dave works predominantly in black and white with abstract patterns surrounding detailed illustrations of buildings and other objects. Dave lived in Berlin before he moved to Manchester where he

exhibited some of his more abstract doodle pieces. It was whilst he was out there that someone told him that his work looked like a city from above. This put the idea in Dave’s head of drawing quirky versions of

cities from above. Dave moved to Manchester and did just that, drawing Manchester from above and selling prints on his online shop. These maps have proved to be very popular and Dave has now drawn many cities including Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, London and York.

Dave also specialise in large scale murals where using his trusty posca pens he transfers doodle maps onto wall’s. turning blank white walls into bespoke maps. Dave’s past clients include Channel 4, Unilad, Innside New York, Manchester Arndale, Urban Bubble, CBRE and ITV.

If you are interested in a commission or a doodle map of your own then please get in touch!

Philip Butler

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018
Philip Butler is a freelance website designer and front end / back end developer located on the second floor of AWOL Studios.  With over 14 years experience in coding HTML, PHP, CSS and Javascript combined with his creative mindset, Philip has all the skills required to work with small to medium sized businesses to develop their online presence.
Philip became freelance in 2004 after returning from living in Michigan, quitting his job as a Projects Manager for concept cars and show cars.  Website design and development was the obvious choice as he has a background in software engineering from working at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars for 15 years.
Philip, originally from Nantwich, Cheshire, moved to Manchester shortly before the attack on Manchester Arena on May 22, 2017 where 22 innocent victims lost their lives.  Desperate to help, Philip spent the next 6 months photographing and documenting every bee he could find in Manchester and Salford.  The results were turned into a book that he self published entitled ‘Bee Quest – The Bees of Greater Manchester’.
Bee Quest contains nearly 200 photographs documenting over 120 different bees throughout Greater Manchester; from bee hives on the Cathedral roof and Coats of Arms on historic buildings through to tattoos and street art.
All the profits from the sale of the book are going to the Manchester Memorial Fund which has been created by the Lord Mayor of Manchester’s charity to create a permanent memorial(s) for the attack on the arena.
Bee Quest is available directly from AWOL studio 218, from www.beequest.co.uk or from the NQ Gallery in Afflecks Palace or Waterstones in the Arndale or on Deansgate.
