Bloomfield Art undertakes all aspects of painting conservation and fine art restoration, from condition checking to reconstructing missing areas of paintings.

We also offer a full antique frame restoration service from cleaning gilt frames to repairing damage to decorative swept frames and full re-gilding.

We are happy to travel out and view the paintings for restoration and do serve most of the North West Region. If you are unsure if we serve your area please contact us. We can travel as far north as Lancaster and as far south as Chester, we also travel east and west to Leeds and Liverpool. If you are outside this area please contact us and we will be happy to discuss other options.

Usually a quick call is all you need to make an appointment. We can arrange to view the piece and assess the work necessary.  Alternatively you can get a preliminary email quotation by using the directions here.

Double Thumbs Up

Wednesday, September 28th, 2016

Hello! We are Kirsty Haikney and Barry Yearsley, or Double Thumbs Up!

We met working in museums, designing and curating exhibitions. We bonded over our love of doodling, drawing and making. We began making and designing gifts together in our lunch hours and spare time, selling our products on Not on the High Street and Etsy. We still sell via those sites and have now expanded our business to include wholesale into gift boutiques and shops.

In 2016 we left our museum jobs to work on Double Thumbs Up full time. Now, as well as designing and selling, we work together on other creative projects, keeping a hand in exhibition design, curatorial work and product design.

Studio 210 – Charlotte Mann

Charlotte Mann is a British artist based in Manchester, known for her esoteric music related portraiture and wildlife inspired paintings. Her work generally consists of large-scale pieces working with acrylic on canvas and thrives within both private and public collections.

Charlotte, a self-taught, instinctive artist, originally worked within the field of wildlife conservation, but has recently reaffirmed her love for painting and creating evocative pieces, which have been associated with exhibitions at Liverpool’s Foundation for Art and Creative Technology and London’s Tate Modern.

Charlotte’s work has also since been showcased in publications such as the book Beyond Recovery, in addition to a series of designs for various clients related to the music industry, as well as paintings spotlighting the journey toward spiritual development and personal well-being. When time allows, she takes on commissioned work, and will soon be offering prints of some of her favourite pieces.

Tony Wheeler

Monday, September 26th, 2016

Wheeler’s work is an amalgamation of the surrounding environment and surrealist tendencies. A compulsive drawer which serves as the backbone to his paintings, he weaves together a patchwork quilt of ideas centred around themes of love & madness and a sense of journey into the unknown.

Phil Hughes

Monday, September 26th, 2016

I am a Manchester / Cheshire based artist working mainly in oils and acrylic. I have a background as an architect in England and The Middle East and I have been a visiting design tutor at the Universities of Cardiff & Liverpool.

Faces and figures provide me with most of my material. The fascination of portraits, for me, is in the way that a tiny dab of pigment can completely change the expression or personality of the subject. Even the simplest portrait is rich in meaning and can instantly convey impressions of age, intelligence, background, mood tastes……. I try to capture some of that but it’s also good to have ambiguity: something unresolved.

There is a simple joy in vibrant colours and part of my enjoyment of painting is finding ways – sometimes excuses – to use them. Some artists plan their work in great detail but I like to get something down quickly and then work it and rework it: pushing the paint around until something clicks.

I hope you find something to enjoy in my paintings.
